About the Job:
The Access Center Coordinator serves as a central point of contact for patients and referring providers seeking access to care across Southern New Hampshire Health practices, specialties, and departments. This role is responsible for coordinating patient registration and appointment scheduling while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, telephone and technology-based environment. The coordinator ensures accurate documentation, efficient access to care, and a positive experience for patients and referral partners.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as the first point of contact for patients and referring providers seeking appointments and services.
Coordinate new patient registration and appointment scheduling across multiple practices and specialties.
Accurately collect, enter, and maintain patient demographic, medical, financial, insurance, and referral information in EPIC and other systems.
Answer incoming calls, triage inquiries, and route information appropriately using professional customer service techniques.
Provide patients with information regarding practices, services, and appointment processes.
Coordinate interpreter services and other patient support resources as needed.
Obtain required documentation and information prior to appointments to support continuity of care.
Ensure medical records and referral information are available to providers.
Accurately document calls, referrals, messages, and scheduling updates.
Provide service recovery and support effective communication with patients, providers, and referring offices.
Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA requirements.
Support department operations and assist with onboarding and training activities as needed.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and efficient patient access to care.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Who You Are / Requirements:
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of medical office, healthcare, administrative support, or contact center experience.
Prior direct customer service experience.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
Ability to handle a high volume of calls in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Data entry and information management skills.
Ability to interpret patient and provider needs and take appropriate action.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree.
Experience using EPIC.
Knowledge of referral triage processes.
Understanding of insurance requirements and scheduling implications.
