We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for individuals to begin a meaningful career in mental health care. Through a partnership with Nashua Community College, you’ll receive both hands-on training and classroom learning to help you succeed in this important field.
Who We Are:
Within Southern NH Medical Centers Behavioral Health Unit, we understand the important connection between physical, mental, and emotional well-being and have the resources to support our community through inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services.
About the Job:
If selected, you’ll join a one-year training program where you’ll learn how to support people with mental health challenges. You’ll take classes at Nashua Community College that count toward a future degree, and you’ll get hands-on experience working in a hospital setting.
After completing the program, you’ll be ready to apply for a Behavioral Health Worker role. You’ll work with a mentor and a nurse to help care for patients who are going through emotional or mental health struggles.
What You’ll Do:
- Hands-on experience with adult patients facing mental health challenges.
- Work alongside a compassionate team of doctors, nurses, and support staff.
- Work closely with a mentor and a nurse who will guide you every step of the way.
- Learn to:
- Care for patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic/social environment.
- Facilitate group activities and psychoeducation.
- Assess patient needs and support recovery & stabilization.
Who You Are:
- High School Diploma Required
- This is a one-year training program, followed by another year of guaranteed employment with Southern NH Health.
- Must be able to enroll and complete 4 identified classes at Nashua Community College within the first year.
