Clinical Nurse Educator (Clinical Teacher)

Full Time | 36 hours/week | 4 x 9's

4 East is a 31-bed cardiac telemetry unit serving a patient population of cardiac, catherization recovery, stroke, pulmonary embolism, diabetic and endocrine disorders, neurological and renal disorders.

About the Job:

In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Manager and as a member of the nursing leadership team, the Clinical Teacher identifies the educational needs for the staff on assigned unit and implements and evaluates educational strategies designed to meet those needs. The Clinical Teacher serves as a clinical expert to staff to facilitate the provision of patient-centered, evidence-based care to the population served. As a transformational leader, the teacher serves as a clinical role model, facilitates change and promotes an environment of teamwork and collaboration. The Clinical Teacher works in collaboration with the Clinical Development Department.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate the unit-based orientation process and monitor the progress of new hires throughout the orientation period.

  • Facilitate unit-based preceptor development.

  • Assess needs and design, coordinate/implement, and evaluate educational activities to maintain and advance clinical staff competency.

  • Review and revise unit-specific competencies in collaboration with unit leadership and the Clinical Development Department.

  • Maintain professional skill and knowledge through practice and education.

  • Develop and augment knowledge and skills related to teaching and learning practices.

  • Coach and mentor staff to enhance care delivery skills to foster safe, quality care.

  • Serve as an advisor to the Unit Based Practice Committee.

  • Assure compliance of area-specific educational requirements.

  • Maintain documentation of annual required education.

  • Contribute to staff annual performance appraisals.

  • Partner with the Clinical Development staff to deliver specific education or in-service programs.

  • Collaborate with peers to promote unit, departmental and organizational goals.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN required)

  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of NH

  • Minimum of two (2) years progressive clinical experience in specialty area required, teaching/learning strategies

  • Ability to achieve the following competencies:

    • Within 90 days: Unit-based competencies, Assessment and evaluation strategies, Class development, Use of teaching technologies, Delivery of constructive feedback, Timely recordkeeping
