The Medical Assistant II performs delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients under the direct supervision of a provider and practice manager. This role supports patient care in person, via telephone, and through telehealth modalities, ensuring adherence to professional standards and state regulations.
What You’ll Do:
- Participate in patient care in person, by phone, and via telehealth under provider supervision.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing.
- Collect and screen patient history and health-related information; communicate findings to providers.
- Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with pre-visit preparation, including outreach and coordination of preventive services.
- Perform administrative duties such as medical records management and patient service tasks.
- Mentor and train new staff; serve as a role model and informal leader for the clinical team.
- Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards.
- Stay current with certifications and participate in ongoing education programs.
Who You Are / Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assisting program and clinical externship required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current BLS/CPR certification; certification or registration by AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a clinical medical assistant (3 years preferred).
- Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and office workflow.
- Strong interpersonal communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and work as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy; Epic EMR experience preferred.
