Who We Are:
This busy, fast-paced cardiac telemetry unit cares for cardiovascular-focused patients that include post-pacemaker placement, cardiac catheterization recovery, and critical medication infusions. This unit also provides a high level of care to our respiratory, diabetic, and endocrine disorder patients, as well as those patients with neurological, renal, vascular, infectious disease, and other medical conditions. Our 4 East Staff members also support dialysis patients with their pre and post-dialysis care. These patients are admitted as inpatients, outpatients, or observation patients and are predominantly adults, though some older pediatric patients may be admitted to the unit based on their care needs.
About the Job:
As a member of the Patient Care Services team, the Patient Care Support Assistant performs a variety of roles based on the needs of the department. The Patient Care Support Assistant role encompasses patient safety attendant, door screener, and direct care tasks of feeding and ambulating patients. This position provides essential support to the clinical staff or facility. The PCSA assumes a role under the direction of the House Supervisor and works under the direction of the manager/director/supervisor of the assigned area.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain safe patient care environment
- Monitor patients via remote video systems and provide verbal redirection as needed
- Greet and assist patients and visitors, ensuring a courteous and helpful experience
- Perform administrative tasks to support patient care and unit coordination.
Who You Are:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Basic medical terminology a plus
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
