About the Job:

The RN Inpatient Wound and Ostomy Specialist is a key member of the Patient Care Services team, providing expert consultation and direct patient care for individuals with acute and chronic wounds, ostomy, and continence-related needs. This role partners with an interdisciplinary team to assess patient needs and develop individualized, age-specific, and culturally appropriate care plans.
This position also plays a critical role in advancing clinical practice by developing educational programs, leading prevention and treatment initiatives, coordinating quality improvement efforts, and advocating for best practices in wound, skin, and ostomy care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide expert consultation and hands-on care for patients with wound, ostomy, or continence needs

  • Perform surveillance of pressure and non-pressure wounds, including hospital-acquired conditions

  • Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and document individualized care plans

  • Develop and implement wound care protocols, policies, and evidence-based practices

  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and staff on wound prevention and care

  • Deliver post-operative teaching for patients with new or complex wounds or ostomies

  • Support and manage negative pressure wound therapy

  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees and quality improvement initiatives

  • Partner with physicians and advanced practice providers to establish best-practice care plans

  • Coordinate care transitions and discharge planning with case management and outpatient services

  • Evaluate products and recommend new technologies to improve patient outcomes

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of consults, treatments, and progress notes

Who You Are / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; BSN preferred

  • Current New Hampshire Registered Nurse license required

  • Wound Care Certification and Ostomy Certification required

  • CWOCN certification preferred

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of related nursing experience required

  • Inpatient wound care experience preferred

  • Completion of a WOCN-accredited program or equivalent experience required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical judgment, wound care practices, and negative pressure therapy

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively across disciplines

  • Commitment to professional growth, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care

  • Flexible schedule (Monday–Friday, first shift, with occasional off-shift collaboration as needed)
