About the Job

Title: Manager, Pharmacy Operations – Inpatient
Reports to: Director, Pharmacy (Inpatient)
This role provides integrated leadership for inpatient pharmacy operations and clinical pharmacy services. The Manager ensures safe, efficient, and evidence-based medication use across the hospital while overseeing day-to-day operations, staffing, workflow, and regulatory compliance. In the absence of the Director, this position assumes operational leadership of the inpatient pharmacy department.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and optimize clinical pharmacy programs and protocols (e.g., antimicrobial stewardship, transitions of care, chronic disease management).

  • Ensure medication management aligns with evidence-based guidelines and regulatory standards.

  • Manage day-to-day inpatient pharmacy operations, including medication distribution, compounding, IV room operations, and code response support.

  • Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; hire, schedule, coach, and evaluate staff.

  • Lead medication safety initiatives and ensure compliance with DNV, CMS, DEA, USP <797>/<800>, and state regulations.

  • Oversee medication procurement, inventory management, and participate in budget planning.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to integrate pharmacy services across care settings.

Who You Are / Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.

  • Licensure: Current and valid New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy license required.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3–5 years of pharmacy experience in an inpatient or health-system setting.

    • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and clinical pharmacy supporting inpatient care.

    • PGY1 residency or equivalent clinical experience required.

  • Preferred: Progressive leadership experience in hospital pharmacy; experience leading clinical programs, medication safety initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.

  • Skills: Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to interact effectively within a hospital setting.
