About the Role:
Medical Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery Practice

As a Medical Assistant in our Orthopedic Surgery Practice, you’ll support patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions by providing both clinical and administrative assistance under the supervision of a provider and Practice Manager. You’ll work closely with orthopedic surgeons and specialists to assist with pre- and post-operative care, imaging coordination, casting and splinting, patient education, and follow-up visits. This role blends hands-on clinical support with compassionate patient interaction to ensure seamless, high-quality care throughout the surgical journey.


What You’ll Do:

  • Support orthopedic surgeons in delivering in-person, telephone, and telehealth care
  • Assist with casting, splinting, wound care, and post-operative dressing changes
  • Coordinate imaging studies and surgical scheduling
  • Document patient history, procedures, and test results accurately in the EMR
  • Prepare patients for joint injections, minor procedures, and surgical consults
  • Educate patients on surgical prep, recovery expectations, and rehabilitation plans
  • Assist with pre-visit planning, test coordination, and post-op follow-up
  • Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, HIPAA, and confidentiality guidelines
  • Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, patient service, and medical records support
  • Participate in mentoring/training new staff and completing annual skills competencies


Who You Are:

  • High school diploma or GED required; MA program or 3+ years’ experience preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • RMA or CMA (AAMA) preferred
  • Familiar with medical terminology, EMRs, and clinical workflows
  • Bonus: knowledge of orthopedic procedures and surgical care
