About the Job:

The Certified Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse provides holistic patient care to high risk, complex acutely and chronically ill oncology and hematology patients in the outpatient setting.

What You'll Do:

  • Utilizing the nursing process, provides holistic patient-centered care across the cancer care continuum, employing multiple treatment modalities, to include assessment, planning, care coordination with the interdisciplinary oncology team, implementation and evaluation.

  • Applies evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, symptom management tools, standards and protocols in patient evaluation and care.

  • Initiates and maintains venous access devices, adhering to evidence based intravenous device guidelines.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of oncologic treatment modalities; administers Chemotherapy, Biotherapy, intravenous and other medications, vaccines and treatments as prescribed, adhering to current Chemotherapy Administration Safety Standards.

  • Identifies and manages oncologic emergencies according to evidence-based practice guidelines.

  • Assists provider(s) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments as needed.

  • Thoroughly and accurately documents all patient care activities, assessment, interventions, and patient/family communication.

  • Identifies patient access barriers and potential solutions to provide quality care to the patient with cancer and identifies resources available to people with cancer and their caregivers.

  • Stays abreast of ongoing changes related to EPIC integration and developing /growing Solution Health integrated initiatives as needed.

  • Attends ongoing educational programs as required to maintain licensure and certifications, and as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager or Practice manager, including annual competencies in Telephone Triage and Clinical Skills Day.

  • Maintains all required licensures and certifications (RN, BLS) as well as current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card and ONCC Oncology Certification (OCN).

  • Ensures that all consults, testing, patient education and procedures are completed in a timely manner.

Who You Are / Requirements:

  • Associates of Science in Nursing (or Equivalent) from an accredited institution required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution is preferred.

  • Registered Nurse with current NH or compact state license Certifications: Current BLS/CPR training: ONCC Oncology Certification (OCN) Current ONS Chemo/Biotherapy Card.

  • 3-4 years of professional nursing experience with 1-2 years of oncology nursing experience.
