Surgical Technician Certified – Ambulatory Surgery Center

Part Time: 2 Days/wk (2 x 10's)

About the Job:

As a member of the Surgical Services team, the Surgical Technician will identify and prepare sterile instrumentation and equipment for surgical procedures; and will assist the surgical team with the verification process, intra-operative procedures, and case closure protocol.  The incumbent will need to respond appropriately to emergency situations, in given circumstances that may arise.  The Surgical Technician will work under the the direction of the Circulator and is accountable to the RN Mgr Clinical Nurse Manager.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to patients, physicians, clinical staff, families and other employees accurately, loudly and/or quickly.

  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to hear spoken communication from other team members, who may be wearing masks.

  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to multi-task, carrying out multiple commands at once.

  • Ability to give and understand clear and direct directions. 

  • Ability to float to other units as needed.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program required.

  • Tech in Surgery (TS-C) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • New Hampshire Medical Technologist registration is required (unless other current New Hampshire state license is held).

  • Frequent use of fine motor and sensory skills.

  • Ability to complete the following competencies:

Within 30 days:

Basic Life Support

Within 90 days:

Use of preference cards

Instrument preparation

Maintenance of sterile field

Surgical briefings and time-outs

Instrument safe handling

Surgical counts

Instrument inventory and decontamination
