About the Job:

The Food Service Associate II supports daily operations within the hospital’s food services department, working in both cafeteria and patient service areas. This role is responsible for handling transactions, preparing and serving food, delivering patient meal trays, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. The position plays a key role in ensuring a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff through excellent customer service and adherence to food safety standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Operate a cash register and accurately handle cash, credit, and other transactions
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients, staff, and visitors
  • Prepare, serve, and replenish food items in cafeteria and service areas
  • Set up and restock stations with food, beverages, utensils, and supplies
  • Assemble and deliver patient meal trays in a timely and safe manner
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and dining areas
  • Ensure food safety compliance, including proper handling, labeling, and temperature monitoring
  • Maintain accurate menu pricing and report discrepancies
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup and breakdown of service areas
  • Support inventory, stocking, and daily operational tasks as assigned
  • Follow all safety, infection prevention, and sanitation guidelines

Who You Are / Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in food service, customer service, or cash handling
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on patient and guest satisfaction
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash transactions
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
  • ServSafe certification preferred
