At the Family Practice of Merrimack, we provide comprehensive health care for the entire family in one convenient setting. Our expert team of primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health specialists, and care coordinators work collaboratively to meet each patient’s unique needs. Services include routine exams, immunizations, chronic condition management, and on-site laboratory and radiology services. We combine traditional and holistic approaches to create personalized care plans, ensuring patients receive compassionate, coordinated care close to home.
About the Job:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Merrimack Family Practice. In this role, you will perform delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients under the direct supervision of a provider and Practice Manager.
What You’ll Do:
- Participate in patient care in person, via phone screening, and telehealth under provider supervision
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing
- Collect and communicate patient history and health-related information
- Document procedures, interventions, and communications accurately in the medical record
- Assist with pre-visit preparation and patient outreach
- Perform administrative duties including medical records and patient service tasks
- Mentor and train new staff as directed
- Attend ongoing education programs and maintain required competencies
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines
- Maintain current certifications including Basic Life Support
Who You Are / Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Previous experience in a patient-facing role
- Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and Windows-based software
- Skilled in standard precautions, confidentiality, and time management
- Caring, detail-oriented, and adaptable team player
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA, CMA-AAMA, or ABR-OE)
- One year experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of Patient Centered Medical Home
